The application period for the Community-Based Transitional Housing grant program opened October 1 and cities and counties are now able to apply for up to $2 million in grants if they approve conditional use permits for facilities that provide transitional housing and support services for offenders released from state prisons and county jails.

The 2016 Budget Act appropriated $25 million total for the Program, which seeks to encourage local communities to support housing that provides treatment and reentry programming. While the Program grants seek to focus on the recently incarcerated, cities and counties may apply for funds to serve other populations that they believe will benefit from the Program’s services. More information about program requirements and the grant applications are available here.
