Upcoming NACo Webinar – Effective Programs and Practices for Women in the Justice System

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is hosting a webinar, Effective Programs and Practices for Women in the Justice System, on December 8 from 11:00 am – 12:15 pm. The purpose of this webinar is to learn from Vera Institute of Justice and two counties about what is driving the increase in women’s incarceration and ways that counties can reverse the trend. The Vera Institute of Justice’s core mission is to assist in reforming the criminal justice system to ensure fairness, promote safety, and strengthen communities. Cal OES Releases Human Trafficking (HV) Program Request for Proposals

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), Victim Services and Public Safety Branch announces the release of the Human Trafficking Victim Assistance (HV) Program Request for Proposals (RFP). The HV Program is designed to provide one-time funding to victim service providers to assist human trafficking victims with trauma recovery and provide services that include emergency shelter, temporary housing, counseling, transportation and legal assistance.

The HV Program is supported with Victim Witness Assistance (state) funding. Approximately $10,000,000 is available for 2016-2017 for one grant period beginning April 1, 2017, and ending March 31, 2019. To receive funding through the HV Program, the application package must be received or postmarked by December 19, 2016.
