Behavioral Health Clinic Funding Bill Already on Governor’s Desk

April 8, 2016

Local behavioral health clinics could get a much needed financial boost under AB 847, which was sent to the Governor on March 28. The bill is intended to improve mental health services furnished by certified community behavioral health clinics to Medi-Cal beneficiaries.

It would require the California Department of Public Health to participate in demonstration programs administered by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and it would also appropriate $1 million from the state’s administrative portion of Mental Health Services Act to develop a competitive proposal.

CSAC recognizes the importance of improving access to mental health services at community behavioral health clinics and maintained a support in concept position on AB 847.
