Billions Requested in Federal Fire Aid

November 9, 2017

Governor Brown and California’s Congressional Delegation have asked the Federal Government for $7.4 billion in funding to help with the relief and recovery efforts from the October fires this year. The money could be used for federal cleanup, recovery and assistance programs and also to support housing, transportation, agriculture, environmental protection, local health services, long-term recovery planning, reconstruction and local small businesses.

The Governor has also expedited over $44 million in state aid funds. This state money could be used for cleanup, hazardous waste removal and assistance for Californians impacted by the fires who are not eligible for federal aid.
