February 7, 2019

The California Department of Social Services, Continuum of Care Reform Branch is hosting a webinar about a grant program to reduce law enforcement involvement with residential facilities. The webinar takes place on February 12 at 10 a.m. and will provide an overview of the funding and updated submission timelines. Agencies interested in applying are encouraged to register for the webinar and CDSS has indicated that the original February 1 submission date has been postponed.

Further information about this grant program can be found in All County Information Notice (I-68-18), which was released in November 2018. The notice provides information on the one-time allocation of $5 million dollars appropriated in The Budget Act of 2018. The purpose of the funding is to improve outcomes for at-risk youth, in areas with the highest rate of crossover, and reduce law enforcement involvement with residential facilities, through providing training, community-based, and trauma-informed services. Eligible applicants include county child welfare departments, county probation departments, county behavioral health departments, and county public health departments, as well as non-profit agencies and facilities.
