CSAC Health & Human Services Policy Committee Recommends Supporting Prop. 2

Aug. 16, 2018

The CSAC Health and Human Services (HSS) Policy Committee met Monday to consider a position on Proposition 2: The No Place Like Home (NPLH) Act of 2018, which will appear on the November ballot. The Committee voted to recommend a support position.

Proposition 2 would authorize up to $1.8 billion in bond funding and the redirection of up to $140 million in Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding annually, to provide grants to counties for permanent supportive housing projects for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and living with a serious mental illness. The HHS Policy Committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Executive Committee to take action at their August 22 meeting. In addition to the vote, CSAC staff provided key updates on new and ongoing funds available to counties battling the statewide homelessness crisis.
