CSAC Legislative Conference Workshops – Be Part of the Conversation
CSAC staff has developed a strong lineup of workshops for our upcoming Legislative Conference, focusing on issues that significantly impact California Counties. The conference is scheduled for May 16 – 17 in Sacramento County. For a look at the conference schedule, click here.
Our workshop lineup includes:
The 2018 Ballot: What’s at Stake for Counties
The “what” and “how” of the 2018 elections will be front and center for counties with ballot measures piling up for June and November. Dozens of statewide ballot measures could be before voters impacting everything from county revenues and infrastructure to natural resources and sentencing. At the same time, new demands on counties for elections administration will put tighter scrutiny on elections outcomes. Industry experts will speak to the issues before voters and what’s at stake for counties in their duties to carry out the election.
Building More Resilient Counties
As the risks from our changing climate intensify, so will the consequences for our communities and the natural environment—from disruptions in food, water, and energy supplies to increases in damage and costs from extreme weather and sea level rise. Years of severe drought and millions of dead and dying trees in California have also combined to create unprecedented fire conditions resulting in severe, year-round wildfires. This session will focus on this “new normal” and how counties can better prepare and adapt to this new environment in a manner that minimizes the impact on our communities and our economy.
We look forward to seeing you in Sacramento in May.
