SEND A MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNOR:  SAVE CHILD WELFARE SERVICES FUNDING!

CSAC is part of a broad coalition (coalition) called “Protect Our Children, Protect Our Future” that is working to restore and protect Child Welfare Services funding in the 2010-11 state budget. The coalition was formed in the wake of the Governor’s arbitrary $80 million veto of county Child Welfare Services (CWS) funding last fall. This capricious veto has ballooned into a $130 million total cut when lost federal funding is factored in. The coalition has been successful in convincing both the Senate and Assembly to restore the funding in the 2010-11 budget, but, as we all know, the budget is not yet final and will eventually face the scrutiny of the Governor. For this reason, the coalition has created a quick e-postcard that counties can fill in online and send to the Governor in just one easy step! Please visit www.protectourchildrenca.org and click on the button in the lower right corner that says “Governor Needs to Hear from You!” Then add one reason or reasons why CWS funding is important to you. Counties are urged to do so by July 30.
