LAO Releases Report on Governor’s Criminal Justice Proposals

The Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) has recently released a report on The 2016-17 Budget: Governor’s Criminal Justice Proposals. The report provides an analysis of the Governor’s budget proposals for state public safety departments and programs which totals $15.6 billion from various funding sources.

The report looks at criminal fine and fee revenue, plans for complying with the court-ordered prison population cap within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), inmate rehabilitation programs, trial courts and county jail grants.
