Sustainable Ag Lands Conservation Grants Available

The California Department of Conservation has announced opening the application period for grants that support both Agricultural Conservation Easements and the development of Agricultural Land Conservation Strategies and Outcomes plans. Preliminary paperwork is due in a few weeks.

The Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program (SALC) is a component of the Strategic Growth Council’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program. The SALC Program supports the State’s greenhouse gas emission reduction goals by making strategic investments to protect agricultural lands from conversion to more GHG intensive uses such as urban and rural residential development. All applicants interested in submitting an application for an Easement grant must submit a pre-proposal by May 22, via email to CFCP@conservation.ca.gov. A pre-proposal for the Strategies and Outcomes grants is strongly encouraged by the Department. More information about deadlines and application materials can be found at this link.
