Over the past year or so, the Assembly Select Committee on Health
Care Delivery Systems and Universal Coverage held a series of
hearings looking into providing universal coverage. Subsequently,
the Assembly contracted with the University of California, San
Francisco to produce a
report summarizing the findings and options from the
hearings. The report, published earlier this week, examines
health coverage in California today and the current challenges
presented by this system, as well as potential paths forward,
including improving upon the current financing system and public
financing.
