The National Association of Counties, the Council of State
Governments Justice Center and the American Psychiatric
Association Foundation are hosting a live video panel
commemorating two years of the Stepping Up initiative and
highlighting county efforts across the country on Wednesday, May
31 from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm. The event will be held on NACo’s
Facebook page at Facebook.com/NACoDC and
StepUpTogether.org.
Since its launch in May 2015, Stepping Up has called on counties
to pass resolutions pledging to reduce the number of people with
mental illnesses in jails. So far, more than 350 counties have
joined the initiative and started or enhanced comprehensive plans
to impact the lives of people with mental illnesses in the
justice system and their families. Forthcoming information about
the agenda and speakers will be posted on NACo’s Facebook page.
