Upcoming NACo Virtual Town Halls on the Opioid Epidemic

May 26, 2016

Counties grappling with the opioid epidemic can learn more on how to address this crisis in an upcoming series of virtual town halls on the opioid epidemic from NACo this June. Each virtual town hall will have a different focus:

  • June 9: Prevention and Education
  • June 16: Treatment
  • June 30: Public Safety

The town halls will present information from national experts as well as county appointees of the National City-County Task Force on the Opioid Epidemic. The expert speakers at the virtual town halls include representatives from the National Association of City and County Health Officials, the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors, the American Medical Association, the National District Attorneys Association, and Major County Sheriffs’ Association.

The National City-County Task Force was jointly convened in March by NACo and the National League of Cities. Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez, who currently serves as CSAC Second Vice President, also serves as a member of the Task Force.
