Update: CA Implements Federal Medicaid Managed Care Rule

March 2, 2017

A joint informational hearing was held by the Assembly Health Committee and Senate Health Committee on Tuesday to receive an update on the status of the implementation of the Federal Medicaid Managed Care Rule in California. The committees received an update on the rule from the Department of Health Care Services and its impact on consumers.

The committees also heard from a wide range of stakeholders on the impact of the rule’s implementation’s impact on plans, providers, and consumers. These stakeholders included the California Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems, the California Association of Health Plans, Health Access California, and the Western Center on Law & Poverty. Suzanne Tavano, the Director of Marin County Behavioral Health and the President of the County Behavioral Health Directors Association, also provided the committees with information on the impact of the Medicaid Managed Care Rule on behavioral health patients.

Additional information on the hearing and background on the new Managed Care Rule can be found here.
