Ventura County Joins the CSAC-Pew MacArthur Results First Initiative

November 10, 2016

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously this week to join the CSAC-Pew MacArthur Results First Initiative, a joint project with CSAC and the Pew Charitable Trusts and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. It is a capacity building initiative to provide counties with tools and information to make informed data-driven decisions whether in criminal justice, juvenile justice or behavioral health areas.

CSAC is excited to begin expanding technical assistance to counties to begin addressing their adult criminal justice programs. The efforts in Ventura County will be housed in the Probation Department but all agencies in the Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) and Board of Supervisors will be working together to lead the effort. Ventura is one of the first counties to join the Results First initiative.

Using innovative and customizable methods, Results First partners build internal capacity to:

  • Create an inventory of currently funded programs;
  • Review which programs work;
  • Conduct benefit-cost analysis to compare programs’ likely return on investment; and
  • Use evidence to inform spending and policy decisions.
