Words to Deeds XII Conference Report

Policy and decision-makers from across California participated in Words to Deeds XII in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) and the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) last year. The Forensic Mental Health Association of California recently released the report, Words to Deeds XII Changing the Paradigm for Criminal Justice and Mental Health, which shares professional expertise, insight and perspectives in the following four areas:

  • Serving Those Who Serve: Challenges and opportunities for supporting behavioral wellness for first responders, custody, and law enforcement officials;
  • A Call to Action: next steps toward promoting and achieving behavioral wellness for first responders, custody, and law enforcement officials;
  • Hot Topics Policy Discussion Addressing the Unserved and Underserved: building capacity for early intervention while serving existing needs; and
  • Perspectives From Professional Experts: meeting the challenge of jail diversion for the unserved and underserved.
