ABOUT THE POSITION: The Accounting Officer I, LACERA is responsible for overseeing three (3) Units within the General Accounting Section of LACERA’s Financial and Accounting Services Division: Disbursements, Payments Recovery, and Reconciliation Units. The Section is responsible for the: receipt and recording of the retirement and other post employment benefit (OPEB) contributions from members and employers (i.e., Los Angeles County, Superior Court, and outside Districts); recording and reconciliation of the retirees’ payroll; processing of the administrative and non-administrative related expense payments to vendors for both the retirement fund and the Retiree Health Care Program; and supporting LACERA’s benefit payment recovery efforts. This position directly supervises three (3) Senior Accountants, and indirectly supervises a staff of 10.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of accounting courses in an accredited college equivalent to 21 semester units or 32 quarter units, including a course in cost accounting, governmental accounting, or auditing

-AND-

Two (2) years’ professional accounting or auditing experience at the level of Los Angeles County’s class of Accountant-Auditor, Accountant II, LACERA or higher.

License: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS II – LIGHT: Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting up to a 10 pound limit, and occasional bending, walking, stooping, or squatting. Incumbents sit for extended periods of time. Work is performed in an office environment in a controlled climate.
