The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Administrator’s Office are announcing a recruitment for the position of Administrative Analyst I. There is one (1) full-time vacancy in the County Administrator’s Office (CAO). The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur in these assignments while the list remains active. Eligibility lists remain active for a minimum of six (6) months.

Reporting to the Assistant County Administrator or Budget Manager, Administrative Analysts perform complex and visible budget, legislative, managing for results, policy, and/or special project assignments and will lead on ad hoc project teams with presentations to the Board of Supervisors, department heads or other decision makers or external community groups. The position requires a readiness to act independently; consistency of trustworthy judgment; and the ability to make analytical connections between the work and the County’s strategic direction. The position may assist in the managing, planning and administration of budgetary, fiscal reporting and administrative support-related functions of the CAO and administrative services departments. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have budget or financial analysis education or experience for a County or other public sector agency, and have experience analyzing policy and/or presenting policy recommendations to a board, counsel or other decision makers. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, flexible, accurate, self-directed and have the ability to work independently with complex, sensitive and visible assignments. He or she will have experience in demonstrating initiative and exercising sound independent judgment, critical thinking skills and adaptability to changing circumstances. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator in both written and spoken form to both internal and external audiences. He or she will show an ability to maintain successful, collaborative and helpful working relationships with office staff, other department staff and members of the public and will demonstrate leadership through strategic planning, innovation, collaboration and systems thinking. Finally, the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, looking to grow and excel, be invested in the County’s future, and will thrive in an environment of relative uncertainty for the broader County organization as a liaison to departments, employees and stakeholder groups.
