The County of Monterey is looking for an administrative professional to provide high-level analytical, technical, and administrative support to the Director of Public Works.   The person selected must be demonstrate a high level of critical thinking, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to creatively and effectively solve problems, develop and make effective presentations to a variety of boards, commissions, external agencies and the public;  and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.  The position requires a working knowledge of local government and public administration; leadership, supervision and management; basic governmental budgeting; contract and bid processing; English grammar, composition, and editing; time management and organizational skills; and Microsoft computer software applications.


Minimum qualifications include education equivalent to a bachelor’s level coursework and two years of progressively responsible administrative support experience that includes one year on a lead or supervisory capacity OR five years of progressively responsible administrative support experience that includes one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
