Description:

Contra Costa County is recruiting to establish an employment list in the classification of Administrative Services Assistant III. Vacancies currently exist in the Fiscal Unit and Administrative Unit of the Employment and Human Services Department.

Administrative Services Assistant III is the top working level in the Administrative Services Assistant series. Positions in this class typically function as program administrators, key administrative staff responsible for one or more administrative support activities in a large department, or principal administrative assistants of medium size department. Administrative Services Assistants III may supervise subordinate technical and clerical personnel.


The employment list established by this recruitment will remain in effect for twelve (12) months and may be used to fill other vacant positions including Administrative Analyst ($3,941/mo - $4,790/mo), Administrative Services Assistant II ($4,795/mo - $5,828/mo).

Qualifications:

Education: Possession of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration or a closely related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent experience in an administrative or staff capacity performing administrative, budgetary or personnel analysis.

Substitution for Education: Successful completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university which included one (1) three-semester or four-quarter unit course in each of the following areas: English composition; Business or Public Administration, Political Science or Government; Mathematics or statistics; and Psychology or Behavioral Science; and two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the required Baccalaureate degree; or an acceptable two-year minimum education requirement may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree.

Substitution for Academic Major and Experience: 1) One (1) additional year of qualifying experience may be substituted for the required academic required major; 2) Possession of a Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field may be substituted for the academic major or six months of the required experience.
