Description:

The Contra Costa County Department of Agriculture is under the direction of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Department of Pesticide Regulations and Division of Measurement Standards. The Agriculture/Weights & Measures Department promotes and protects the County’s agricultural interests while protecting the public health and environment. The Department has a recommended FY 2013/2014 operating budget of $5.5 million and has 46 FTEs. Under general administrative direction, the Agricultural Commissioner – Director of Weights and Measures plans, organizes, and administers the activities and operations of the Department of Agriculture, including assigned divisions, programs and functional areas, and the development and maintenance of sound public relations.

Qualifications: 

Requires graduation from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field and five years full-time experience in agricultural regulatory work, with three years in a management or supervisory capacity. Possession of a valid California State Licenses as a County Agricultural Commissioner and County Sealer of Weights and Measures also required.
