Agricultural Resources & Policy Manager

Performs a variety of administrative analytical duties with moderate to high scope and complexity in the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office. Related work experience in agriculture, resource conservation, environmental protection or planning related to agriculture is highly desirable. Experience with policy development, communication, social media and organizational development is also valuable.
This vacancy may be filled at several levels dependent on the combination of skills, education and experience of the successful applicant.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including ability to present complex issues in terms suitable for specific and general audiences; strong computer skills and ability to use electronic communications tools, including social media; knowledge of the agricultural industry, including laws and regulations affecting the agricultural industry and land use planning issues; understanding of environmental/resource issues, especially water; familiarity with local, state and federal legislative and rulemaking processes; ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among county departments, regional, state and federal agencies, environmental interests and agricultural organizations; ability to represent the Agricultural Commissioner on issues related to the department with various external groups and interests; ability to analyze complex issues, foster resolution of conflicts and disputes, especially related to policy and regulatory frameworks; and public administration skills including budgeting, organizational development, contract and grant writing, and administration.
