Description:

The County of Sonoma’s Department of Health Services is seeking an innovative, experienced individual with exceptional leadership qualities to be the next Animal Services Director. This position reports to the Public Health Division Director and is responsible for providing key leadership for Sonoma County Animal Services in sustainability planning, revenue generation, community outreach, and partnership development. The Animal Services Director plans, organizes, administers, and oversees a comprehensive animal services program and budget, exercising independent judgment and initiative to achieve program goals and objectives. Keys to success will be providing excellent customer service with a culture of transparency and trust, and fostering and growing strong community relationships with organizations and municipal partners.

Qualifications:

This position normally include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, or a related field, and five years of full-time experience in a management or administrative capacity in an organization with responsibilities comparable to those needed to manage the size and complexity of the Animal Services Section. This experience should also have involved substantial public contact, public relations, and supervisory responsibilities. Experience with animal care, control, or welfare, and particularly the management of any of these functions, is desirable.
