Description:

The County of Sacramento is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable leader with a solid breadth of management expertise for an interim Assessor position. The Assessor is elected by the people of Sacramento County and is responsible for locating taxable property in the County, assessing the value, identifying the owner, and publishing annual and supplemental assessment rolls. The position will remain interim until the newly elected Assessor takes office in January 2019.

This is an extraordinary career opportunity to serve Sacramento County in an executive management position. Working under the California Constitution, the interim Assessor will be responsible for planning, organizing, evaluating, and directing the operations and activities of the Assessor’s Office.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have the following education:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or a closely related field.

Ideal candidates will have the following experience:

Extensive, in-depth management experience in the provision of California’s system of property taxation under Article XIIIA of the state constitution; Five or more years of experience managing, directing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating a team of professionals performing the full scope of work required within a California property tax appraisal and assessment environment.

To hold the position of Assessor, as outlined in the California Government Code 24002.5, an Assessor must possess a valid Appraiser’s Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization pursuant to Article 8 (commencing with Section 670) of Chapter 3 of Part 2 of Division 1 of the Revenue and Taxation Code.
