The County of Sonoma Clerk/Recorder/Assessor’s Office is seeking a qualified professional to join their team as Assessor’s Change in Ownership Supervisor. This recruitment is being conducted to fill one (1) full-time vacancy in the Assessor’s Division. The Assessor’s Change in Ownership Supervisor serves as the primary division resource for property transfer taxation laws.

The position supervises, trains, and directs the work of the Change in Ownership Unit of the Assessor’s Division; initiates the development of quality ownership standards; ensures ownership reappraisal work accuracy; receives, reviews, and assigns ownership documents to initiate real property appraisal activities; identifies, researches, and resolves the most complex changes in ownership; performs the most complex technical work related to the interpretation and application of California property taxation laws; and provides assistance to taxpayers on the most complicated issues.

Qualifications:

Education: Normally academic coursework in business administration, real estate, business law, public administration, and/or change in ownership courses sponsored by the California Assessor’s Administrative Support Association (CAASA), or the State Board of Equalization.  Experience: Normally five years of experience reviewing and interpreting complex ownership documents for real property. Three years of experience as an Assessment Process Specialist in the Assessor’s Change in Ownership Unit satisfies this requirement.
