$153,900.06 – $197,545.22 Annually DOE

Description:

The Assistant Assessor has responsibility for the administration and management (through subordinate executive managers), of the day-to-day, core business operation of the Assessor’s Office, including the preparation and presentation of the annual assessment roll. These high level responsibilities are carried out in a manner consistent with the Department’s mission statement and the performance objectives established by the Assessor. The Assistant Assessor is an unclassified, at-will, executive management position, appointed by and reporting directly to the elected County Assessor. Applicants for Assistant Assessor should possess a comprehensive understanding of California assessment practices as well as strong management skills and leadership qualities in order to successfully implement special projects and complex assignments above and beyond the primary responsibility of delivering the annual assessment roll.

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate would typically acquire the necessary knowledge and abilities through education and experience equivalent to graduation from college and substantial supervisory, administrative or managerial experience in the appraisal of property for tax assessment purposes. In addition, possession of, or eligibility for either a temporary or permanent Appraiser’s Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization for property tax purposes. Permanent certification must be acquired within one year from the date of appointment.
