Salary:

$129,417.60 – $157,560.00 Annually

Description:

Under administrative direction of the County Counsel; serve as a legal representative of the County of Merced, the Board of Supervisors, County Officers, commissions, advisory boards and various subdivisions in all phases of civil law activities including court appearances, preparation of legal opinions concerning the powers, duties, functions and jurisdiction of County, involved in a wide breadth of litigation including personal injury or personal property damage, employment rights, civil rights, environmental compliance, eminent domain, school impact fees, writs of mandate, Public Records Act, Brown Act, property taxation, and district officers and employees; assist with the executive management and oversight of the department personnel and fiscal management activities, legal services planning and evaluation, and public and political relations functions of the County Counsel Office; and perform related work as required.

Qualifications:

Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional legal experience in civil work or six (6) years of recent, extensive civil litigation.
Desirable qualifications: 5 years experience representing governmental clients; experience in any of the following areas: employment law, HIPPA, health and human services or environmental law; strong supervisory and administrative skills.
