$151,571.06 – $272,421.55 Annually

Description:

Under the direction of the County Executive Officer (CEO), the Asst. County Executive Officer/HR Director (Asst. CEO/HR Director) plans and directs a comprehensive human resources management program which will assist County departments and agencies to attract, train, develop, and retain productive employees; and provides overall direction to staffing, classification, risk management, employee relations, and benefits programs through subordinate managers.
The Asst. CEO/HR Director will work closely with the CEO and Board of Supervisors to develop policy and meet strategic objectives across all County departments, special districts and agencies. Additionally, the incumbent will conduct and oversee specialized administrative assignments of county-wide significance and represent County interests during collective bargaining. In this time of tepid economic recovery, the Asst. CEO/HR Director will be faced with difficult decisions, will make strategic recommendations, and will enjoy many opportunities to make a significant and positive impact.
The Asst. CEO/HR Director will operate out of the Human Resources Administration Office and occupy a critical, high profile position within County governance. The successful candidate will not only be a leader, but also an open minded collaborator with the ability to think creatively. He/she must have professional presence and be diplomatic and decisive. The incumbent must be an expert in establishing productive and cooperative business relationships across County departments. Integrity, perspective and political savvy are essential to the Asst. CEO/HR Director’s success.

Qualifications:

Experience: Five years of professional experience which involved accountability for program planning, organization, implementation, and operations in functional human resources administration programs, including three years functioning in a supervisory/management capacity. Government experience working within the State of California is highly desired.
Education:
Graduation from a recognized college with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with major study in public, business or personnel administration, industrial relations, psychology or a related field. A graduate degree is highly desired.
