Assistant Director of Human Resources

The Assistant Director of Human Resources works under the direction of the Human Resources Director as a working manager and serves as the assistant department head. Is responsible for management of human resources operations, labor negotiations, employee relations, Civil Service classifications, salary determinations, performance evaluation, risk management, training, internal communications and related areas and may also be called upon to represent the interests of the Human Resources Department in the absence of the Human Resources Director.
A Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, human resources, industrial relations, or related discipline is required; a Master’s degree in a related field is highly desirable and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in a public sector human resource environment, with a minimum of three years serving in a supervisor or managerial capacity; professional certification such as CCP, SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, IPMA-CP/SCP is preferred.
