Annual salary range: $122,512 to $167,315 DOQ

Description:

The Assistant Director of Human Resources reports to the Director of Human Resources and has responsibility for overseeing daily operations of the department and three division managers as direct reports. Primary responsibilities include reviewing requests for approval by the Director; meeting with departmental managers to determine best practice approach to issues; evaluating departmental effectiveness and recommending changes and coordinating the implementation of personnel management policies and procedures within the framework of the County’s personnel system and legal mandates.

Qualifications:

The new Assistant Director of Human Resources will need to take the time to assess and understand existing policies, procedures and organizational needs (both internal to the department and as part of the larger County organization) and collaborate with departmental staff and key department heads to develop and implement best practices and process improvements. Five (5) years of supervisory and/or management level experience in a public sector environment AND a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, public or business administration, industrial/organizational psychology, or a related field is required. An MPA or MBA or related advance degree is desirable.
