The Monterey County Public Works Department is recruiting for an Assistant Engineer to be part of the Stormwater Team that is responsible for implementing the County’s Municipal NPDES Permit.
Areas of experience for this current vacancy should include site inspections, storm water sampling and monitoring, preparation of technical reports, general understanding of the regulatory structure for the State’s stormwater programs, dealing with State agencies.
Storm Water Certifications Desirable: California Registered Civil Engineer, Qualified Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Developer/Practitioner (QSD/QSP), Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality (CPSWQ), Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI), Certified Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Specialist (CMS4S), or equivalent is highly desired.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education equivalent to completion of a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at an accredited college engineering curriculum; AND two (2) years of responsible professional public works engineering experience.
Four years of experience at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician with Monterey County including in at least two areas, including design and construction; AND college level coursework and/or formal training providing the necessary skills in engineering design, computations, surveying and construction management.
Other: Possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
