Description:

The County of Sonoma General Services Department is seeking an experienced management professional to be their next Assistant Fleet Manager. Under the direction of the Fleet Manager, the Assistant Fleet Manager coordinates, plans, organizes, supervises and manages programs for the acquisition, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and specification writing of the vehicles and equipment in the County’s fleet and outside contracted groups; and performs other duties as required. The Assistant Fleet Manager is in a position of trust and confidence to manage all aspects of the County’s light vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance and repair programs, including policies and procedures and long-range planning, and fleet development. The incumbent is responsible for operations and vehicle and equipment maintenance activities for multiple maintenance facilities and field service and repair operations. The incumbent exercises considerable judgment in planning and directing the operations and maintenance of mechanics/technicians and facilities in accordance to County departmental requirements. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker, with a demonstrated collaborative approach to working with customers and staff.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this position normally include academic course work in automotive or equipment maintenance, engineering, public administration, business administration, and related courses; and two years of supervisory experience in automotive and/or equipment maintenance, including experience with computerized maintenance systems.
