Salary:

Assistant Engineer — $71,219.00 – $85,696.00 Annually 

Associate Engineer – $76,294.00 – $91,686.00 Annually

Description:

The Assistant Engineer is the journey-level class in this flexibly staffed professional engineering job series. An incumbent in the Assistant Engineer class is expected to use judgment and initiative in developing and completing work assignments. This position is distinguished from the advanced journey level Associate Engineer in that the Associate is registered as a Civil Engineer by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and serves as project leader on assignments requiring considerable professional knowledge of design principles and approves complex construction plans requiring highly technical engineering analysis and is registered as a Civil Engineer.

Qualifications:

Experience — Assistant/Associate Engineer
At least three years of professional-level civil engineering experience in the design, development, review, permitting of private and/or public developments.

Education – Assistant/Associate Engineer
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

License or Certificate — Associate Engineer
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers
