Description:

The County of Marin is recruiting for an Associate Land Surveyor to assist in the day-to-day operations and management of the survey unit in the Public Works Department. The survey unit provides highly technical services to County departments, private surveyors, private developers and County residents. The Associate Land Surveyor will be responsible for performing and assigning land surveying work in the field or office, assigning and reviewing work of survey parties, providing assistance and direction to technical staff and exercising responsible charge over examination of Records of Survey, Corner Records, Parcel Maps and Final Maps, including making determinations on such maps. The Associate Land Surveyor will also assist with the establishment of guidelines to maintain professional, technical and legal standards mandated by State law.

Qualifications:

The highly qualified candidate will have strong leadership qualities, foster teamwork and a positive work environment, demonstrate effective communication to customers and across organizational levels, as well as possess knowledge of the Professional Land Surveyor’ Act, the Subdivision Map Act, and other applicable laws and County Ordinances. They will be capable of performing field and office survey work required in the preparation of Record of Survey maps, Corner Records, legal descriptions, and survey mapping for County projects, including assisting in the maintenance of official records, maps, reports, field notes and other surveying documents.
