$5,160 – 6,914 / Month

Description:

The Job: Under direction, perform professional legal work for the County through the District Attorney’s Office; prepare and prosecute criminal and civil cases in the courts; perform special or supervisory assignments on a rotational basis; and do other work as required. Attorney I is the entry and first professional level in the Attorney series. Incumbents are required to be members of the California State Bar but need no experience practicing law and work under the direction of a more experienced attorney. The list established through this recruitment may be used to fill future extra-help, substitute, full-time and part-time vacancies.

Qualifications:

The Requirements: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying, unless otherwise specified. A typical way to obtain these would be: Graduation from law school.

Special Requirements: Membership in the California State Bar.

Note: Be sure to include your Bar number in the license section of the application form. Law school graduates who have taken the California Bar Exam and have not yet received their results may participate in the recruitment process for Attorney I. If you pass the County examinations, your name will be placed in an “inactive” status (not eligible for consideration for employment) until the County receives written confirmation that you have passed the California State Bar Exam.
