Description:

Marin County currently has one full-time vacancy in the County Administrator’s Office (CAO) which will be filled at the Budget (Administrative) Analyst I, II or III level. Please note, to be considered for the Analyst I or Analyst II positions, you must submit an Analyst I/II application. To be considered for the Analyst III position, you must complete a separate Analyst III application.

The Analyst performs complex budget, management and policy analysis and participates in special project assignments which include presentations to the Board of Supervisors, department heads or other decision makers. This position assists in the managing, planning and administration of budgetary and fiscal reporting, financial systems, and administrative support functions of the County’s administrative services departments, and requires an ability to act independently, utilize sound judgment and support the County’s strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate for the Budget Analyst I/II position has knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, including budgeting, fiscal analysis, program evaluation, project management and/or capital project development, and has some professional experience performing budget or financial analysis work for a public sector agency. Experience making presentations and leading discussions with internal and external stakeholders, and shows an ability to maintain successful, collaborative and constructive working relationships with office staff, other department staff and members of the public.

Qualifications:

Additionally, the ideal candidate for the Budget Analyst III position possesses either an MPA or MBA and has experience working in a public sector organization with a complex budget with multiple funding sources. Has performed centralized budget or financial analysis work, is adept at using financial data systems, and has experience presenting policy or financial recommendations to a board, counsel or other decision makers. Is an expert communicator in both written and verbal formats and demonstrates leadership through strategic planning, innovation and collaboration.
