Description:

Located in the beautiful Sonoma County, the CEO – Sonoma County Fair & Exposition, Inc. (CEO) will provide a crucially important service and visionary perspective to the County’s Event Center at the Fairgrounds. The CEO will report to a 15 member Fair Board and will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that enhance the Sonoma County Event Center’s role in the County’s economy, develop both private and public sector fundraising sources, prepare and manage the Department’s budget, build strategic relationships with the agricultural community, and community at large, and develop marketing and fundraising plans that effectively attract and enhance attendance at the various community events held at the Sonoma County Event Center. It is vital that this leadership seeks to broaden the Center’s viability throughout the calendar year. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled individual with extensive management and administrative skills, and have a strong understanding of the various practices and principles of event center operations, fair management, public relations, personnel and financial administration, contract negotiation and administration, and property management practices.  Combined with extensive experience, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated his/her success in collaborating with various stakeholders, including the community, elected officials, Board members, executive team members, and other county department staff.  Additionally, the CEO will have demonstrated a proven ability of developing business and increasing revenues through increased facility usage for public events and activities, and will have the ability to take a proactive role in the marketing and promotion of the facility, in order to maximize the viability of resources through the calendar year.  Minimum requirements of the position include five years of experience in district or County Fair operations, or related public or private activity, and courses in either business administration, public relations, public administration, organization and management, accounting, or recreation.
