Description:

Monterey County Resource Management Agency (RMA) seeks an experienced and customer service oriented land use and development administrator to be the Chief of Building Services. Monterey County has a high quality of life, rich agricultural lands, gentle Mediterranean climate, and varied natural environments.

The Chief of Building Services reports to the Deputy Director of Land Use and Community Development and oversees all Division Plan Check and Building Inspection functions. Building Services administers and enforces the California Building Standards Code with any modifications stated in the County Code, conducts inspections, and performs other activities as may be defined in other applicable County plans, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have BA in Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering, Construction Management, Natural Resource Management, Architecture, Geography, Environmental Studies or related field, and five years administrative or managerial experience in the general management of building inspection, code compliance, or engineering with responsibility for directing staff and program activities. A CBO or certificate of registration as PE is highly desirable.
