Description:

The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is currently recruiting for a Chief Deputy Public Administrator. This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the operations of the Public Administrator’s Office. The Chief Deputy Public Administrator plans, organizes and supervises the daily work of staff assigned to investigate estates of deceased persons; inventories and assumes assets; and searches property, bank accounts, wills and other assets and heirs. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the preparation of preliminary estimates of value of assets; managing real property of estates; liquidating assets; and arranging for filing and publication of notices of sale, notices to creditors and other legal notices required by law.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Social Services or closely related field, 3 years of administrative, investigative, financial management or social casework experience in a legal office, bank trust department, social services agency, public administrator/conservator’s office, or other organization which provided familiarity with probate administration with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Substitution: Additional experience as a Deputy Public Administrator or Supervising Public Administrator may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of 4 years.
