The San Mateo County Employee’s Retirement Association (SamCERA) provides retirement, disability and death benefits to employees of the County and operates as an independent public agency. SamCERA is a $3 billion fund with about 5,000 active members, 1,300 deferred members and 4,400 retirees and beneficiaries.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a public pension system, 2 of which were in an upper management position supporting a governing board, including interpreting and applying retirement laws in a public sector setting. Challenges for this position include continuing progress to build out the system’s revised asset allocation; completing the project to implementation of a new pension administration software system; implementing new GASB Rules 67 & 68; completing the process of filing with the IRS for an updated Tax Determination Letter; and assisting the County in implementing new contracts with bargaining units.
