Description:

The California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) is seeking an exceptional professional to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Although a state agency, CALPIA is self-supporting and receives no appropriation funds making this a unique opportunity for a leader with experience navigating government processes, as well as an innovative, corporate mind set.

Overseen by an 11-member Prison Industry Board, CALPIA provides productive work opportunities and job skills to offenders to reduce recidivism and increase public and prison safety. CALPIA manages over 135 manufacturing, service, and consumable enterprises, in 34 CDCR institutions and provides work assignments for approximately 7,000 people. The Authority’s vision is to change offenders’ lives through innovative job training for a safer California.

Qualifications:

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Chief Financial Officer establishes financial and information technology policies of the organization. The position is a key member of the agency’s Executive Management team and actively participates in planning and policy development strategy sessions pertaining to all departmental matters and programs. The incumbent is a member of CALPIA’s Strategic Business Council, which makes policy decisions regarding the sale of goods and services and the capacity to produce goods. As the leader in charge of formulating financial policy, the CFO will play a key role in helping the Authority with its strategic business plan goal of maintaining self-sufficiency.
