Description:

Located in the North Bay Area across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, Marin County (pop. 250,000) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Operations Officer (Chief Assistant Director of Health & Human Services).

The Department of Health and Human Services is a dynamic, innovative, integrated health and human services agency composed of six divisions that deliver, coordinate, and administer a range of federal, state, and local programs that address the County’s health and welfare needs to residents. Currently the Department of Health and Human Services has approximately 650 employees with a budget of approximately $145 million.

The Chief Operations Officer is an executive level position that functions as the Assistant Department Head and works in association with the Director of Health & Human Services to provide administrative oversight and policy direction to departmental divisions. The COO is an at-will position appointed by the Health & Human Services Director and is subject to confirmation by the Board of Supervisors.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in public or health administration and 5 years of progressively more responsible management and administrative experience in a large and complex health, mental health, or social services organization is desired. Sufficient closely related experience at the management level within the above agency environment may be substituted for the master’s degree requirement.
