Description:

This Department Head classification has responsibility for managing and supervising the functions of the County Probation Department including the Juvenile Hall, provides staff consultation and support regarding probation and juvenile case problems, and to do related work as required. This position serves at the will of the Board of Supervisors. The primary function of the Probation Department is to reduce the incidence and impact of crime in the community. The department is divided into three divisions: Adult Probation, Juvenile Probation and the Charlie Byrd Youth Corrections Center (juvenile hall). The department currently has approximately 41 full time employees and 4 extra help employees.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least (5) years of experience performing probation work, including at least two years of management of supervisory position. Completion of advanced level course work in sociology, psychology, behavior sciences, or a closely related field is highly desirable.

Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license and completion of P.C. 832 Training
