Min: $151,682 – Max: $194,613 Annually DOE

Description:

The Chief Public Defender Investigator is an executive leader who is an integral member of the Public Defender’s dynamic leadership team. The Chief Public Defender Investigator directs and manages through subordinate managers the activities of the investigative division of the Public Defender Office. Through the Chief Investigator, the division is responsible for investigating, interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence on behalf of clients represented by the Public Defender Office. These essential functions are intrinsic to the constitutional right to counsel guaranteed under federal and state constitutional law. The Chief Investigator is responsible for the high quality investigation which is a tenet of the client centered criminal defense established in the mission of Public Defender Office.

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate would typically possess education, experience, and training emphasizing administrative or managerial responsibility in a large and complex organization providing investigative services to attorneys engaged in felony, misdemeanor and juvenile defense. It is anticipated that successful applicants will possess a BS degree with major work in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a closely related field and a minimum of 4 years of managerial/administrative experience performing complex investigative work.
