Description:

Contra Costa County’s Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) is seeking a visionary leader to carry out EHSD/Children and Family Services Bureau’s Mission Statement, maintain the department’s prominent role providing innovative approaches to protect children and assist families to reach their potential, lead a committed staff skilled in the delivery of children and family services, and to build and foster community-collaborative partnerships.
The Children and Family Service Director is responsible for the coordination and direction of subordinate managers and supervisors providing Federal, State and local child welfare, foster care and adoption programs to clients, and is involved in program advocacy, policy development, training, community liaison and coordination of services. Incumbent reports to the Employment and Human Services Director.

This classification is EXEMPT from the merit system and is not subject to the guidelines set forth in the Personnel Management Regulations.

Qualifications:

License Required: Possession of a Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Family Therapy, Behavioral Health or Public Administration or a closely related field.

Experience: Five years of full time experience or its equivalent as a public human service program supervisor or manager in a public or private agency with responsibility for the administration and operations of Children and Family Services.
