Description:

The County of Ventura’s Resource Management Agency is seeking a Code Compliance Director. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and highly motivated part of the Resource Management Agency’s executive leadership team. He or she will have a mix of experience and professional judgment and discretion that comes from 9 years (required), 10 years (preferred) of experience in the conduct of public sector agency programs. They will have technical knowledge gained from direct experience in the land use planning, weights & measures, building and construction, and/or engineering field. They will also be self-motivated, adaptable, organized and efficient, with outstanding interpersonal, communication and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

Typical Qualifications
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE

Level I: Nine (9) years required, ten (10) years preferred of progressively responsible experience in a regulatory program, preferably involving the enforcement of zoning ordinances and/or building/engineering codes AND three (3) or more years of supervisory management experience.

Level II: Nine (9) years required, ten (10) years preferred of progressively responsible experience in a regulatory program, preferably involving the enforcement of zoning ordinances and/or building/engineering codes AND five (5) or more years of supervisory management experience.

REQUIRED License/Certifications for both levels:
•California Driver’s License
DESIRED •Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Management, Urban Planning, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field.
•Penal Code Section 832 Certification
•CACEO (California Association of Code Enforcement Officials) certification (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and/or Supervisor)
•Training/Experience with Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement programs and efforts
