Description:

Fresno County (population 972,000) is located in the San Joaquin Valley, the southern half of California’s Central Valley. It encompasses a total land area of 6,011 square miles that includes 15 cities and an unincorporated area with 18% of the County’s population. The County is known as the Agricultural Capital of the World, producing 350 crops worth about $6.8 billion. With spectacular landscapes, it is home to unlimited outdoor recreation, incredible farm-to-fork dining, wineries and so much more. It is one of the only places in the U.S. with such close proximity to three national parks, all within a 90-minute drive.

The position is appointed by and reports to the five-member Board of Supervisors, elected by district, on a non-partisan basis, to four-year staggered terms. The FY 2015-16 proposed total budget is nearly $2.7 billion with 7,375 staff positions. 

Qualifications:

Desire a relevant BA/BS and senior level management experience with a general purpose local government (either county or city). Must have worked directly and extensively with elected officials, and have demonstrated success in finance and budgeting.
