$11,392.00 – $14,588.00 per month plus a comprehensive benefits package

Description:

The County Administrative Officer “CAO” is an at-will employee who serves at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors “Board”. Generally, the CAO advises, assists, acts on behalf of and is responsible to the Board for the proper and efficient administration of the affairs of the county which are assigned to the position.
The CAO is a consolidated position which concurrently holds the offices of: Clerk of the Board of Supervisors; County Risk Manager; County Purchasing Agent; and Director of the Central Services Department. The County Administrative Office, which is staffed with fourteen full time employees includes the: Board Clerks; Human Resources Department; Risk Management Unit; Information Technology Division; and the Purchasing and Procurement Section. The CAO also serves as the County Budget Officer and the Employer-Employee Relations Officer. The CAO provides direction and assistance to County Department Heads and per-forms related professional and administrative work as required. The incumbent enforces ordinances, orders and regulations as directed by the board; performs other duties as assigned by the Board; and has authority commensurate with the position’s responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or closely related field. Degree in Public Administration is desirable, but not required. Additional related work experience may be substituted for college coursework on a year for year basis..
License: A valid California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience performing complex budgetary, financial, policy, and organizational analysis duties for a County or other large governmental agency, including experience working directly with an elected Board or Council and experience as a lead worker or supervisor of professional or management staff.
