This Department Head classification has responsibility for managing and directing the services of the County Counsel Department, serves as chief legal advisor and risk manager for the Board of Supervisors, County departments; conducts and oversees litigation for the County; attends Board Meetings; and promotes government operations that are both legal and ethical

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is experienced in managing the work of a legal office. He/She has extensive knowledge of civil, constitutional, and administrative law relating to the operation of County government. Candidates must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as an attorney, three (3) of which should be in a responsible management level position, preferably in local government setting with an extensive experience in civil law, and must have active membership in the California State Bar.
