Description:

Located in southwest Washington, Clark County stretches from the north bank of the mighty Columbia River to the southern shadows of Mount St. Helens. Its county seat and largest city is Vancouver, and it is the fifth most populous county in the state. The County covers over 656 square miles and is home to more than 471,000 residents.

Clark County operates under a home rule charter, with a County Manager and five County Councilors. Clark County has a total adopted General Fund budget of $159,314,879, with a county-wide budget of $443,529,899. The County has 1,723 FTEs, including represented employees in twelve collective bargaining groups.

Qualifications:

The new County Manager should be a results-driven, steadfastly strategic, visionary but grounded servant leader who will be dedicated to serving this dynamic community. The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration or a closely related field and must have at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the management of local government operations. A master’s degree in a related field and experience working in a County government is preferred.
